Hello, and welcome to my blog. My name is Oleg Dubovoi. I am a software engineer based in Vienna, Austria, who loves programming, system design, deep research and tough challenges.
Before getting into IT, chess and strategy games were a big part of my childhood. I won my first chess tournament at seven, and spent years playing Age of Empires 2 and Warcraft 3. They taught me to plan ahead, weigh options, and trust my reasoning.
I got into software development back in 2014. My first programming language was C++. I loved its strictness, the OOP discipline, and how close it let you work to the metal.
During my studies I solved a lot of algorithmic problems, played with machine learning using OpenCV, and in 2019 founded PlateML, an AI-powered startup built for real-time license plate recognition (LPR). After that I moved into enterprise development with .NET.
In 2021, after finishing my Bachelor’s in Computer Science, I joined Atola Technology, a global leader in cybersecurity hardware. A few months in, I built Locate Sectors, a high-performance sector-to-file mapping algorithm that finds filesystem metadata. It’s a unique feature and highly in demand in digital forensics and cybersecurity hardware.
In 2022 I became a founding engineer on MultiDrive, a disk management toolkit for Windows. I architected and built the MVP from scratch and led a team of five software developers. MultiDrive earned “Product of the Day” and “Top 5 Product of the Week” on Product Hunt, was featured in the official Avalonia Showcase, and gathered 1,000+ users in the first days of launch.
Since 2024 I’ve been doing a lot of research, following what’s happening in tech and AI, and publishing articles in my free time. Some of them made it to “top of the week” and crossed 50,000 views.
In 2025 I became AI Enablement Lead at an IT company of 30+ people. I defined the strategy and the AI adoption roadmap: MCP-based workflows, guardrails, RAG-based internal tools, and training programs.
In 2026 I founded two professional communities on LinkedIn, Austria AI Community and Austria Tech Community, connecting engineers, sharing knowledge, and building networks across the region.
I genuinely love software development. It’s an inseparable part of my life. Throughout my career, even back when I was a student, I’ve always helped friends and colleagues, shared what I knew, and stepped into the mentor role. At some point I realized I could share that experience with a wider audience too, and help inspire other developers in their careers.
This blog is where I write about the things I learn along the way. Thanks for stopping by!
